For the record Racism is trauma

Trauma of a psychological or physical nature; both personal and observed impact the health and well being of Black people, Indigenous people, and People of Color. Reminders of systemic oppression and racism are present in the world at every level. These traumas have permeated through health care.

Physical medicine of all types and chiropractic have benefited from the systems that have been built to perpetuate racism. With WEIGHTLIFTING DOC LLC being a white trans non-binary owned small business we affirm our support of Anti Racist practices and education, a need for radical changes to health care, and tangible steps forward for inclusivity in all spaces.

Small tangible steps forward from WEIGHTLIFTING DOC LLC are: Sliding Scale for services rendered. Allowing for a conversation between patient and care provider about the financial reality of the patient. Antiracism education. This provides appreciation and acknowledgment of the hurdles that prevent many BIPOC to seek out physical medicine in a racist health care system. To improve care experience for BIPOC patients and advocacy for more BIPOC care providers in the physical medicine branch of health care.

WLD operates as an unwelcome settler on the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes. This acknowledgment does not take the place of authentic relationships with Indigenous communities but serves as a first step in honoring the land we occupy.
